In this piece, I painted two glossy matryoshkas — identical in shape, but different in character. Their surfaces shine, reflecting light and everything around them like mirrors. I wanted to capture the feeling of external similarity and inner contrast.

They stand close, almost touching, but there’s a quiet tension between them — a silent dialogue. I don’t offer answers: are they mother and daughter, sisters, friends, or reflections of the same self?

Through the lacquered shine, the smooth forms, and the restrained composition, I tried to show how delicate the boundary is between closeness and distance. This painting is about connection, duality, and how we can be side by side and still remain separate.
